To TIME:
There has been much complaining about Time's choice of George W. Bush as "Person of the Year" from those who oppose his ideas and deeds; but who could deny that this country has changed more in the past four years than was imaginable prior to Bush? Our standing and reputation in the world is completely changed from what it was before; our nation's economy (not to mention fiscal discipline) has been entirely altered; the futures in the minds of our growing children are like another world compared to the hopes of graduating seniors only a few years ago; our environment is changed; our public discourse has changed; ethics rules have changed; even voting has changed, and behind every change, we see if not the person, the administration of George W. Bush. Will this man be considered the most notable man of our era to future historians? Doubtless. Sadly, good governance is less noted: just as very few remember the more honest leaders of the Roman Republic, but all know the names Caligula and Nero, the name George W. Bush will be known for ages to come; the choice was apt and deserved, and Time is to be commended for making it.

Nature ANGRY! Australia has lost 2 citizens in 5 days to the jaws of hungry sharks. Word's gotten out: we humans, we're not sweet, but we're delightfully tangy.
