Amy's Amazing Cookies:
Cookies so good, you'll say "FUCK, that's good!"

Preheat oven to 350

Cream one stick butter (1/2 cup) with 2 heaping tablespoons of peanut butter, half a cup of finer, lighter sugar and a quarter cup of coarser, darker sugar.

Separately, sift 3/4 cup of light flour, a teaspoon of baking powder, and dash of salt.

To butter/sugar mixture add one smallish egg, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of heavy cream, and 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of honey. Whip with beaters.

Add dry flour mix to the sweet n' wet mix.

To the whole she-bang, add 3/4 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut, and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Mix with a spoon.

Grease some waxed paper, drop the dough on by small teaspoonfuls, and bake in your 350 oven for about 12 minutes.

Now, THAT'S a fucking cookie!!!

Note, for optimum flavor, I recommend using all organic, all-natural ingredients, barring the coconut and chocolate chips: for those, use the ooey-gooey stuff; I like Ghirardelli.

Also note, this recipe will make something like 30 cookies. You don't HAVE to eat that many, piglet. Wrap half the dough in layers of waxed paper and foil and stick it in the freezer: don't try to halve the recipe unless you know a chicken who can lay half an egg.

"Bush Pledges $350 Million in Aid to Stricken Areas of Asia"

That's better.

Yes, this is probably too long to get a second glance from the NYTimes, but I sent it to them anyway.

Dear Editors,

The tragedies resulting from the 9.0 earthquake's ensuing tsunamis will amount to the worst disaster of many of our lifetimes. This is an event that deserves the generosity of every person on this globe possessed of human compassion. So far, individuals have been showing their compassion through donations to aide organization, prayers, and more, but individuals and charity groups can only do so much. The Bush Administration has ultimately pledged less money than Spain (a nation much smaller and less wealthy than ours), less money in fact than will be spent on Bush's second inauguration. Meanwhile, several European cities have cancelled their New Year celebrations so that the alotted funds can be diverted into disaster relief. This is wonderful, and it emphasizes our shame. This is the case of the widow's mite being greater not only in spirit, but in dollar amount, than the gift of the rich man. Individuals should continue to give: but give three times, four times, more, to as many organizations as possible, to make up for our government's lack of heart. We should also write to the White House, and our representatives at every level, to inform them that that "morals" and "compassion" are not just buzz-words for election years: the American People expect to see their love for their fellow man made manifest in the actions of our leadership.

Yours,

Amy Letter

HUMAN COMPASSION
Let the world stand still:

"A minute of silence was to interrupt the festivities in Venice."

"The Champs-Elysees, the center for New Year celebrations in Paris, will be draped in black crepe this year, in mourning for the victims of killer tsunamis in south Asia."

"In London, a quarter of the sums usually raised for charity during New Year parades will be sent to the wave victims."

"In Italy, Pisa, Bologna and Turin all abandoned New Year festivities, choosing instead to donate the saved funds to victim aid groups." [what i think we should all do!]

Other countries are doing other things as well; read about it here: CLIQUEZ ICI!

Monkey has gone home -- the holidays are over. And all I got was this stinkin' photo. ;-) Okay, I'll take it! (Actually, she also gave me a nasty cold/flu, and that's really lasting, so at least I have monkey-flu to remember her by!)

9.0 earthquake; devestating tsunamis; 25,000 dead and counting; what can YOU do about it?

Well, I just donated $15 (not much but I don't have much) to Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (click!)

-- also, the NY Times has a list of organizations providing aid to the survivors (click here!)

... yes, I know, we're all broke, but these people are dying. Send someone a few bucks.

LOVE!

Amy

To The South Florida Sun Sentinel:

So Jeb wants to privatize some welfare assistance programs, eh? Floridians must keep in mind that privatization means one additional expense that no government program would ever otherwise have: profit. Corporations must take a percentage of whatever the taxpayers give them, and hand it over directly to their stockholders. That's welfare all right, welfare for the rich! To suggest that adding an additional, demanding expense to a system is going to make it more affordable is pie-in-the-sky bordering on dishonest.

With love, from me to you!
